  Dear Parents,

Just like all of you, we have been watching the news reports regarding the cases of coronavirus (NCoV). In the last week there has been much more media attention regarding the virus, there have been updates from the CDC, and the President has created a task force to handle responses. For our citizens who have traveled out of the country, there have been quarantine periods upon return.

In the last 24 hours, local news sources have been reporting a case in the metro east where an individual was showing symptoms and was referred for further testing.

School Officials have been in continual contact with county health officials for the last several weeks regarding the coronavirus and we have discussed plans for potential confirmed case in our area. Our school health staff have been updated regarding the symptoms associated with the virus. If there is a confirmed case, the District would focus on three priorities:

      1) The health and safety of our students and families.

      2) Minimizing the potential exposure to the virus by our students

      3) Ensuring the school environment is safe for our students

As you may be aware, current response to confirmed cases of the coronavirus has involved a quarantine period. IF we have a confirmed case in our area, we would coordinate with the St. Clair County Health Department and the area CDC office to implement our response plan.

We continue to take steps to keep our school as safe as possible by practicing sound cleaning practices that include wiping down and disinfecting areas on a regular basis and encouraging students to wash their hands thoroughly.
