July 3, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I would like to begin to begin by welcoming you to the 2020-2021 school year. We are planning to have students return to school on Monday, August 10th, 2020. I know the staff and myself are very excited to see all of the kiddos!  We missed all of you!

School will look different this fall as we meet the State and CDC guidelines, but our focus remains the same: every student receives a high-quality education.  Our goal is to return to in-person instruction, with high priority placed on the health and safety of students, staff, and their families. In doing so we will be following the guidance of the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois State Board of Education when making decisions about what the fall will look like.

The following are some established guidelines already in place to ensure the safest school environment we can provide to all during this pandemic:

  • Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), face coverings, are required (and provided by District #110). Everyone in the building will be wearing a mask/ face covering.
  • Groups of more than 50 individuals in one space is restricted
  • Social distancing will be observed with more than 6ft. of separation when possible
  • Symptom screenings and temperature checks will be conducted
  • An increase in schoolwide cleaning and disinfecting will take place routinely throughout the day.

The District has developed a more comprehensive plan for returning to school that can be found on the District website, www.dist110.com Registration for all returning student will be available on-line, through the TeacherEase platform beginning on Monday, July 6. We cannot stress how important it is for you to get your child registered as soon as possible. We need to know student numbers to appropriately plan for this year. There are also survey questions for you to answer regarding our return and if you have a need for your child to continue remote learning. New families, and those registering under an affidavit, will need to register on-site on Tuesday, July 21st, from 12-8pm at Grant Middle School.

Please take a look at the return plan. I think it will answer many questions for you. However. I know it doesn’t cover every question and we do want to try and answer everything we can. Please send any questions or concerns to me at stines.m@dist110.com or call 618-398-5577.

Looking forward to having everyone back very soon!

Stay safe and healthy,

Matt Stines

Superintendent, District #110
