Dear Belle-Fair Conference Families,

The Belle-Fair Conference Superintendents recently met to discuss the upcoming 2020-2021 athletic seasons.  Our discussion centered around the different guidance that has been released by both the IHSA and the SIJHSAA in relationship to the guidelines which we received from the Illinois State Board of Education.  As we compared and reviewed this information, the Belle-Fair Conference Superintendents have decided to cancel the fall athletic season that was slated to begin in August due to concerns associated with the spread of COVID-19.

District Superintendents made this decision for the safety of our student-athletes, spectators, as well as our coaches and is a precautionary measure. This decision was not easy to make and is not taken lightly by any school district within the conference. Each school felt strongly that our goal during the upcoming school year was to minimize person to person contact and unfortunately athletics creates uncontrollable variables.

The Belle-Fair Conference Superintendents are committed to reviewing this decision prior to the start of each athletic season in the event guidance or there are changes related to the pandemic.  We will continue to monitor updates and plan to make a decision on winter sports and tryouts during the month of September for the safety of our athletic family.

Respectfully,

Belle-Fair Conference Superintendents
