Dear Parents and
Guardians,
Cold and flu season is upon us, and we want to work together to keep our students, staff, and families as healthy as possible. The following reminders can help prevent the spread of illness at school and at home:
1. Keep your child home if they are sick.
Please do not send your child to school if they have:
A fever of 100° F or higher (they should be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning)
Vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours
• A persistent cough or sore throat that makes it difficult to participate in class
Any other symptoms that make them feel too unwell to learn or participate
2. Practice healthy habits at home:
• Encourage frequent handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
Remind children to cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or elbow
Avoid sharing food, drinks, and utensils
Ensure your child gets plenty of rest, nutritious food, and fluids
3. Stay up to date on vaccinations.
The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone 6 months and older. Vaccination helps reduce the severity and spread of illness in our community.
Our goal is to maintain a healthy school environment so all students can learn and thrive. Thank you for your cooperation and support in helping us limit the spread of illness this season.
If you have any questions or need guidance about when your child can return to school after being sick, please contact me at wright.sh@dist110.com or at 618-397-2764
Stay healthy and take care,
Nurse Meka
