Many may not be aware, but on January 1st 2027, a new law will go into effect which deals specifically with micromobility. There are many new rules and regulations which will be in effect, but at the core of the law is the new age restrictions. Working with the Fairview Heights PD, we will be adjusting our current policy/ practice in response to the new law.
The new law will not allow anyone under the age of 15 to operate these machines. Due to the new age restrictions, and as our current student base will fall under minimum age, we will no longer be allowing students to operate these machines on school property.
